ESQUIRE:The Fantastic New IWC Watch from SIHH 2012

It's a bird, it's a plane. Nope, it's a watch. Right now, it's SIHH 2012 (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie), where all the new brands announce their new timepieces. While many make a big deal of their launches, few do it as big as IWC. How about a fighter jet? A military drum line? Not big enough? Let's bring in an entire cruiser then.
My favorite watch from their mega-event is the IWC Top Gun Miramar Pilot Chronograph. It's part of a new series of watches positioned to sit alongside their immensely popular pilot line. It's a beefier watch than those ones, though, and the 46-mm diameter reminds you it's not meant for junior. It's housed in a beautiful ceramic case with a titanium case-back. It also features a new in-house made Caliber 89365, a movement that's similar to their Portuguese Chronograph Yacht Club (which is currently on my wrist as I write this). Let's not forget the massive 168-hour power reserve, and the flyback chrono.
Pretty fancy, indeed. Which is why we especially love the olive strap and muted colors. They help tone it down a bit, making it the perfect weekend watch. Price T.B.A, but you should start planning now for next year's release.
